Reporting to the Materials Manager, responsible for generating and maintaining the plant production schedule.

Will work within a team to ensure the accurate and timely coordination of materials to meet the needs of production and all customers.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Generates daily/weekly production schedules to meet customer demand, while maintaining desired levels of inventory.
  • Measures and reports the Production department’s attainment to schedule.
  • Reviews production schedules with Production department to determine material requirements and identify any overdue or hot materials.
  • Coordinates and expedites flow of materials and parts, according to production and customer shipping schedules or departmental priorities.
  • Monitors GM portal to ensure all service requirements are met.
  • Issues timely releases to vendors for steel and purchased parts.
  • Coordinates sub-contractor schedules and off-site inventory.
  • Responsible for setting up and tracking freight / expedites.
  • Performs regular cycle counts and analyzes inventory variances.
  • Maintains accurate inventory records.
  • May assist with in-plant and inter-plant transfer of materials.
  • May provide support with calculating amount of material required to complete job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes.
  • Acts as a back-up with Shipping/Receiving Department ensuring timely shipment of parts to customers and accurate receipt of materials
  • Creates shipping documentation, transmits ASN’s, providing Customer service to OEM’s.
  • Any additional duties as assigned.

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with GM systems (Covisint, Supply Power, GMCCA, CLIPS Turbo, etc)
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems with material planning experience
  • Automotive stamping plant. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Exposure to noise; confined spaces, lighting conditions, material, products and by-products associated with the manufacture of automotive parts including steel, temperature and weather extremes that require the use of specialized protective devices or equipment.
  • Required to climb stairs, able to crouch for periods of time, push, pull, lift and turn while carrying work tools in various parts of the facilities.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience coordinating materials in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive
